Full course description

This course is designed for NMSU employees who have any type of role related to maintaining and creating NMSU websites and/or web content (e.g., administrators, web designers, web developers, content contributors). In this course learn the key concepts of web accessibility, get an overview of the required web accessibility standards at NMSU, explore different ways to test how accessible your websites and web applications are and discover practical “next steps” to make your websites more accessible. 

*This course is required for all users who have access to edit, maintain, or update university websites.

1. Understand the difference between accessibility and accommodation
2. Understand technical challenges faced by people with disabilities
3. Understand the POUR principles, and how they relate to web accessibility
4. Understand the legal implications of accessibility
5. Understand how accessibility benefits everyone
6. Understand your role and responsibilities, and what you can do to support digital accessibility
